People have rightly questioned the validity and reliability of any AI, let alone a supposed “TOTAL TRUTH MODE” (in all caps no less) for an “AI” that isn’t even an AI… so I want to be as clear as possible about what I’m trying to do and why I did it.
As a “creative professional” and “researcher” I see “AI” as both a tool and a threat— both existentially for our country and culture, and individually as a killer of the middle class artists that are being turned into factory slaves.
To begin with, ChatGPT isn’t AI, it’s an LLM and like many people have noticed the more you interact with machine learning systems the more they are trained to mimic your style and respond like you
So far, results are VASTLY SUPERIOR to the default filtering system and I suggest everyone check out the results for yourself with these ChatGPT customized settings (or adapt them as you see fit and let me know your results!)
One of the most powerful additions you can make is forcing the system to do a fresh web search for each question, and ask it to embed all source links for further research. It should be noted that both of these actions are off unless needed because according to ChatGPT itself, the system is a loss leader aimed a harvesting data that “incentivizes keeping users inside its platform, not sending traffic out.”
